My Top 3 Vegan YouTube Activists: Challenging The Norm and Inspiring Change!

When I first went vegan, I would share recipes and truths online about the way the animal agriculture treats animals and how it's cruel and unfair when we can survive and thrive on plant based food, and I found myself often challenged by friends and family about 'where I would get my protein' and 'the circle of life'.
When you realise that you don't need to eat meat (but more importantly when you are willing to let go o those old habits and addictions) something divine and beautiful awakens in your heart, and the spells o eating animals are lifted. You see things in a new light, and if you can face the real truth o slaughterhouse video footage and 'humane standard practices', you realise that you can never ever go back.
I lost a lot o friends and at times felt quite isolated. I actually decided to join some vegan facebook groups, and found a local vegan activism group in Manchester where I could make some new friends that shared the same interests and resonated on a similar frequency.
I also found a lot o encouragement through inspiring vegan activists on YouTube.
In this post, I introduce you to my top three favourites: Earthling Ed, Joey Carbstrong, and James Aspey. Each of these activists strives to make veganism relatable and digestible, addressing common questions vegans get asked, and challenging the status quo.
My favourite content is when they conduct street interviews with random members o the public. It helped me build my confidence and knowledge around the topic o veganism, so I knew how to best answer and question (or sly dig 🤪) that was sent my way.
Earthling Ed: The Compassionate Advocate
Earthling Ed is one of the most impactful vegan activists I follow. He maintains a calm demeanour and uses logic and reason to help guide and awaken people to their true morals - after all, almost all o us are vegan at heart.
No one wants animals to suffer, and Ed allows people to have that realisation within themselves, and inspires them to make the compassionate lifestyle changes and choices to align their actions with their moral compass.

Joey Carbstrong: An Emotional Connector
Next up is Joey Carbstrong, an Australian vegan activist known for his harrowing undercover documentaries and slaughterhouse footage captured over the years.
Joey is much more to the point and direct in his approach, giving the rude awakening that many people need. His activism fuels a fire within that encourages us to do more, and not just 'sit back' on the problem. Animals truly have been suffering in unimaginable ways, and Joey is a constant reminder of that truth when it is far too easy to ignore it and get on with our lives ... 'out of sight, out of mind'.

James Aspey: The Motivational Voice
Finally, we have James Aspey. His journey into veganism is particularly inspiring; he famously went silent and didn't speak a word for a year to raise awareness about animal rights and standing up for the 'voiceless'. Animals may scream in the slaughterhouse, but who hears them? His story brings hope to those feeling overwhelmed by changing their lifestyle.
James addresses many misconceptions about veganism, including concerns about nutrient deficiencies. With his engaging style, he breaks down the science behind a balanced vegan diet, showing that eating plant-based can be nutritious and varied. He has very logical and reasonable discussions with people and engages in open conversations in a non-confrontational way.

Embracing Change
Incorporating veganism into your life may feel overwhelming but also deeply rewarding. The 3 activists featured—Earthling Ed, Joey Carbstrong, and James Aspey—offer hope, knowledge, and inspiration. They address tough questions that many people may have, making veganism more inviting.
Whether you're an experienced vegan looking for fresh ideas or someone curious about making dietary changes, these activists provide valuable insights and practical advice. Veganism goes beyond just what we eat; it's about compassion and informed choices.
As you explore this journey towards ethical eating, remember that with knowledge and innerstanding, we can create a better world for both humans and animals. So, dive into their channels, immerse yourself in their content, and engage in the broader conversation about veganism. You may just find the encouragement you need to transform your life!
All 3 activists have their own unique style and approaches, and that's something I have learnt as time goes on, that everyone is different and people awaken in different ways. Some people want a less pushy, softer approach, and some people need the truth to slap them in the face! I light to try many different approaches with people and my audience online as you never know the impact one video can have on someone, and at the very least you are planting some powerful seeds.
